Video Surveillance

The use of cameras and other video equipment for physical and personal property protection is among the fastest growing segments of the security market today.

Most people are aware of camera surveillance in retail stores, major office buildings, parking areas, and banks. But camera systems are also helping in some less obvious areas.

For example, law enforcement agencies throughout the country are utilizing cameras to record traffic stops, catch speeders, watch train crossings, and monitor busy intersections. Also, many manufacturing or processing facilities are using camera systems to watch automated assembly lines. Down time is costly to these companies and video monitoring systems allow them to watch (and record) breakdowns or malfunctions along the line. The information acquired from these systems often helps prevent future breakdowns and subsequent down time.

Whether you’re putting in your first camera system or upgrading an existing one, today’s digital video systems make everything easier.

It’s easy to see the benefits video can provide. Camera systems have become more than crime deterrents and property recovery/prosecution aids. These effective management tools can assist managers with problem areas, safety and non-compliance issues, staffing and scheduling concerns, and loss prevention.

Over the past decade or so, security cameras have incorporated digital technology, similar to televisions moving to high definition. This improves clarity immensely for the viewer. H&S offers cameras from multiple high-quality manufacturers. We use a wide range of cameras with resolution ranging from 4 MP (megapixels) to 12 MP, or even higher. It all depends on the amount of area the camera needs to cover. The bigger the area, more pixels needed for good image quality. If your existing cameras are not getting the job done, we can often use your existing cable and just replace the recorder and cameras to drastically improve video quality.

Alarm Systems

The Proactive Approach to Security

These days, the first approach people often consider for protecting their business is keeping an eye on things with cameras. While cameras can be useful in many ways, and can even notify the user of activity, there is a better way to protect your business proactively.

Unlike self-monitored cameras, an alarm system will quickly notify authorities of a break-in without any action required by the user. This way, even if you are away from your phone (or asleep) when something happens at your business, you can rest easy knowing authorities will be on their way shortly. This system really limits the amount of time an intruder could be there doing damage before the authorities arrive.

Proactive Security Benefits Any Type of Business

Professionally designed and installed H&S alarm systems provide thousands of businesses (and homes) invaluable protection from break-ins, theft, environmental factors and other dangers. H&S protects homes, hospitals, schools, manufacturing plants, warehouses, churches, municipal buildings, restaurants, banks, dental offices, malls, office buildings, auto repair shops, golf courses, veterinarians, and many other small, medium and large businesses.

Depending on the application, environmental factors, and building construction, systems may be hard-wired, wireless, or a combination of both.

Keypad

This is the part of the system you will interact with the most. It goes right inside your main entry door, or nearby. Each employee who may need to unlock for the day or lock up for the night would have their own unique four-digit code. The last person to leave for the night would type their four-digit code into the keypad and hit the “arm system” button. Once they walk out the door, the system is live. The first person to next enter must type their four-digit code into the keypad to turn the system off.

Door Sensor

These sensors go on all service doors and overhead doors to detect whether the door is opened or closed. The system will show an error if you are trying to arm the system while a door is still open. If you have the app for the alarm system, you can also get notified for when a door gets propped open too long.

Motion Sensor

These sensors are used as blanket coverage so that if someone enters your building by means other than a door, the alarm system will still catch them. We normally will put these in the main hallways of buildings and in rooms with windows.

Glass Break Sensor

These sensors detect the act of glass breaking, such as a window or glass door being shattered. It uses specialized vibration sensors to pick up the distinct sound frequency of glass breaking. When the sensor detects this noise, it triggers the alarm to alert homeowners or security personnel of a potential break-in.

Other Detection Sensors

Panic buttons can be added onto any alarm system; these trigger an alarm and alerts authorities when pressed, signaling an emergency situation. Additionally, Leak Detection and Low Temperature Detection can be integrated. Receive a phone call and a notification via the Alarm.com platform for environmental alerts so you can take action immediately and avoid damage.

Access Control

Card Access systems (also called Access Control systems) control entry into a building or other protected areas within a facility. H&S designs and installs systems that currently protect areas such as computer rooms, telephone rooms, stock rooms, and general entrances throughout all of Wisconsin.

H&S takes care of the access control needs of banks, schools and other facilities that require the ability to lock down their building(s). We program these types of special requirements into the access control system — tailored to the customer’s specific circumstances.

Keyless Entry Systems

Authorized personnel are assigned credentials, which are presented to readers stationed at the point of entry or exit. The system allows entry or exit only if the particular credential has authorized access.

System features:
  • System & Activity Monitoring
  • I.D. Badges
  • Video Verification
  • Database & Event Reporting
  • Bluetooth and/or Mobile Credentials
  • Proximity or Encrypted Credentials

Proximity vs Encrypted: What’s The Best Solution?

ProDataKey Mobile App
Proximity Credentials

Proximity cards use RFID technology to communicate with card readers from a short distance (usually a few centimeters). They often contain a unique identifier that is read by the system. Many existing systems are designed for proximity credentials; unfortunately, these systems are more susceptible to cloning and interception since the data is often transmitted in an unencrypted format.

Encrypted Credentials

Encrypted cards use advanced encoding methods to secure transmitted data. They often combine RFID with other technologies, such as smart card chips, which can store encrypted data. This data makes it much harder for attackers to clone or intercept information.

Access control card or fob duplication can pose significant security risks. Ensuring that the data on the access credential is encrypted, will prevent unauthorized individuals from copying or cloning the information
