Mike Horgan got a big surprise on May 15th at the WISA (Wisconsin Security Association) annual awards banquet, where he was honored with the “Bill Cooper Award,” one of the two most prestigious awards given by the association.
And there was one more big surprise for Mike. Not only was the award unexpected, but the late Bill Cooper’s wife, Jill, made the trip all the way from Louisville to present the award. The “Bill Cooper Award” recognizes professionalism, leadership, and commitment to the good of the security industry.

Jill spoke of Mike’s work for the industry as a whole. “As a business owner, father, husband and son, Mike works hard and plays hard. The honor was created by him 17 years ago to honor consummate professionals,” she said in her remarks, noting the award had come full circle from its inception to Mike being on the receiving end of the accolades.

She referenced her husband Bill, and his pride in the security community and the camaraderie. She said Mike encompassed all the important qualities the award symbolizes.
Receiving the award, Mike said he was “very surprised. Bill was a good friend. I miss him. He taught me a lot. I’m especially honored to be given this by Jill.”

Mike’s wife Lori, his son David and daughter Ally were in attendance for the ceremony.
