How many electronic devices do you use these days that you need to regularly change the batteries in?
As technology has evolved, we’ve seen fewer and fewer devices with easily replaceable batteries. Phones, watches, headphones, and plenty of other everyday electronics are simply plugged in and recharged. So, we wouldn’t be surprised if changing batteries just isn’t on your mind much anymore.
Unfortunately, not everything has switched to being rechargeable. Many wireless security devices still rely on replaceable batteries, which means they still need a little attention every once in a while.

And while changing batteries may seem like one of those low-priority tasks that you can procrastinate on, a low battery in a security device is worth taking seriously. After all, these devices need power to do their job. If the batteries don’t work, neither can the device; It’s that simple.
Some battery changes can be done by you as the customer, and others will require our technicians. If you have some doubt, give us a call. Our technicians at H&S are always happy to come and check or change your batteries for you.
If you choose to replace your low-charged or dead batteries on your own, we advise customers as a general best practice to stick with name-brand such as Duracell, Energizer or Panasonic. After removing the old battery, wait five minutes before inserting the new one. This gives the device enough time to fully power down.
H&S also recommends you give the monitoring center a call before you start, at 1 (800) 933-4762, to let them know you are changing out batteries. When you tamper with the devices, a signal gets sent to our monitoring center. It is important that they know you are just changing batteries and that dispatch is not needed at this time.
